Taos Pueblo Division of Natural Resources (DNR) works in conjunction with the Taos Pueblo WarChief’s Office to manage the wide variety of natural resources that occur on Taos Pueblo lands. As Taos Pueblo works to secure its struggling populations of wildlife, DNR initiates and leads projects which work to maximize habitat and restore struggling populations of native fish, mule deer, bighorn sheep, and threatened native plants. DNR partners with state, federal, and local agencies to achieve natural resource resiliency in our ever-changing ecosystem. As we move towards native species restoration in our fisheries, we work to employ local youth in order to instill an understanding and appreciation for native fish and wildlife. Through this work we hope to continue to restore native cutthroat trout habitat, restore degraded aquatic habitat, encourage natural colonization of keystone species, and establish sustainable ecosystem practices that will benefit our community for years to come.
